Welcome to Korongo Expeditions, where adventure meets purpose. Founded by two expert guides with decades in the wild, we’re more than a safari company—we’re advocates for the crowned crane, or ‘korongo’ in Swahili, an endangered African icon. Our name also nods to the life-sustaining canyons (korongo) of the savanna, reflecting our commitment to nature and conservation.
Our founders bring deep knowledge and passion to every trip, but our mission truly defines us. Named for Uganda’s national bird and the canyons that shelter wildlife, Korongo Expeditions fights to protect the crowned crane from habitat loss as wetlands and grasslands vanish to farmland. We raise awareness about its plight and its vital role in the ecosystem.
We offer more than safaris—we champion a cause. From tracking wildlife to sharing the crane’s story, we invite you to join us in combating poaching, trapping, and habitat destruction. Korongo Expeditions is a call to action for Africa’s wild heart. Help us protect the crane and its home. Viva Korongo!
Whether you crave luxury or an off-grid escape, a Kenyan safari with us promises unforgettable moments. From savannahs to escarpments and coastal beaches, let’s find your perfect adventure.
My experience was amazing; from all the amazing services at camp, all the help with luggage and having all the lodges booked and ready for your arrival. The safari vehicle was very comfortable and the driving was amazing considering the terrible road conditions and some of the other safari drivers not being respectful of others viewing. There was tons of little wildlife facts that he could provide and always had a big smile on his face seeing the animals like it was his first time.
My family and I went on a safari in Tanzania and I was so lucky to get to have Humphre as my tour guide. He knew all about the different animals and taught us so much. We felt safe the entire trip and we’re able to see every animal we hoped to spot. We learned so much about the wildlife and the ecosystem, even the people that lived in different areas. It was an incredible experience and has to be one of my favorite trips I have ever been on, and Humphre only made it even more fun. I suggest that anyone who’s looking into a trip like this to definitely book it. You’ll have an amazing time and learn a lot.
I had the pleasure of embarking on a mesmerising safari with Korongo Expeditions last year in July, and I’m still in awe of the incredible experience they provided. From the moment I booked my tour, the communication and organisation of the Korongo team was outstanding, which filled me with excitement as I anticipated the adventure. They were prompt in responding to my inquires and ensured that all my concerns were addressed.
Our guide, Humphre was an absolute gem! His passion for wildlife and the Tanzanian landscape was evident in every aspect. His knowledge of the diverse bird species we encountered was truly impressive, constantly identifying each species with precision and fascinating insights into their behaviour and habitats.
His enthusiasm was infectious and it truly enhanced the overall safari experience. Thanks to the teams expertise we found ourselves unbelievably close to some of Africa’s most majestic creatures. So exhilarating, loved every second!!
I went on safari with Humphre as my guide in January. He was able to provide us with an experience unlike any other. He could find just about any animal we wanted to see, had extensive knowledge on the wildlife, and was a great time! I would highly recommend him as your safari guide!
I took a trip to Tanzania in January of 2024 and it was an unforgettable experience. My main guide Humphre was an unbelievable guide. Not only was he so knowledgeable in the wildlife we encountered, but he was also extremely personable and outgoing. Humphre created friendships with everyone in my group, myself included, and still keeps in touch. One very outstanding feature of Humphre is how much he knows about birds. He was able to identify birds off of sounds and the way that they acted or flew. It was honestly quite impressive. He also not only knew the ID of birds, but a number of interesting facts and behaviors. Overall I do not think that my experience in Tanzania would have been as impactful if it had not been with Humphre. Thank you for everything you did and what you taught me!! I could not have asked for a better guide!!
