Overview
Zanzibar’s southern beachfront waters are home to humpback and bottlenose dolphins, The Dolphins are authoritatively secured by the 420 km2 Menai Cove Protection Region, which was set up in 1997 to stop the fast exhaustion of fish stocks, Kizimkazi is an angling town looking for dolphin’s zone, so join this outing to the Indian ocean & have an experience of a lifetime, an opportunity to swim with Dolphins in their natural habitat
Why Kizimkazi for your dolphin tour
Kizimkazi is the most well-known dolphin spotting area in Zanzibar, situated on the Southern shoreline of Zanzibar island where The Dolphins are officially protected by the 420 km2 Menai Bay Conservation Area, you can see both bottlenose and humpback dolphins.
The shallow waterfront waters around Kizimkazi are a most loved joint for dolphins that come here for solid food flexibly, to nurture their calves, rest and mingle. However, a few bottlenose dolphins remain at Kizimkazi lasting throughout the year. Additionally, rather shyer humpback dolphins put in an appearance here, even though their calendar is somewhat more erratic.
Note: Even though dolphin spotting is a popular activity, sightings aren’t ensured 100%, and managing to swim with dolphins is rare, as with other wild creatures spotting dolphins requires time and persistence as they are not limited in a pen or a zoo, they are in their regular habitat so the possibility of seeing them is approx. 80%.
When to do the dolphin tour
It is recommended & best to do the tour early in the morning, in light of the fact towards the evening as the sun rises the water will be warm, as a result, dolphins will dive deep to get away from the heat
**Extension
The dolphin trip can also be combined with Jozani forest as the forest is on the way to Kizimkazi; we pass through the forest on the way back from the dolphin tour.
